About the Lusaka Weekend Championship League
The Lusaka Weekend Championship League (LWCL) is an amateur football league in Lusaka, Zambia. It was founded in 2020 by a group of friends who wanted to create a more casual and social atmosphere for playing football. The LWCL is open to players of all skill levels, and teams can be made up of men, women, and children.The LWCL season runs from March to November, and each team plays a round-robin format. The top two teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs, which are played in a knockout format. The winner of the playoffs is the LWCL champion.
In addition to the regular season and playoffs, the LWCL also hosts a number of other events throughout the year, such as:
- A friendly tournament between the LWCL and a team from another city
- A charity match to raise money for a local organization
- A skills competition
