History
The LSIRS was founded in 1980 by a group of friends who wanted to play football without having to commit to a full-contact league. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years.
In 1990, the LSIRS added a women's division. This was the first women's football league in the Chicago area.
In 2000, the LSIRS added a co-ed division. This division is open to teams of men and women.
Divisions
The LSIRS currently has the following divisions:
- Men's Division
- Women's Division
- Co-ed Division
- Recreational Division
- Competitive Division
The Recreational Division is for players who are new to football or who want to play in a less competitive environment.
The Competitive Division is for players who want to play in a more challenging environment.
