Liverpool Old Boys Amateur Football League
The Liverpool Old Boys Amateur Football League (LOBL) is an amateur football league in Liverpool, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently has 36 teams competing in four divisions.
The LOBL is affiliated to the Football Association (FA) and its teams compete in the FA Vase and the FA Sunday Cup. The league also has its own cup competitions, including the Bill Hughes Senior Shield and the Alan Brown Trophy.
History
The LOBL was founded in 1922 by a group of former Liverpool footballers who wanted to continue playing the game after they had retired. The league's first season had just six teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 300 players.
The LOBL has produced a number of talented footballers over the years, including former Liverpool players such as Jimmy Case, Ronnie Whelan, and Ian Rush. The league also has a strong tradition of producing referees, with several LOBL referees going on to officiate in the Football League and the FA Cup.
Current Season
The 2022-23 season is currently underway and the LOBL is divided into four divisions: Premier Division, Championship, League One, and League Two. The top two teams in each division are promoted at the end of the season, while the bottom two teams are relegated.
The current Premier Division champions are Abbey Road Veteran First, while the Championship champions are Collegiate Old Boys First. The League One champions are Huyton Stanley, while the League Two champions are Liverpool Ramblers First.
