Introduction
Liga Orihuela is an amateur football league in the city of Orihuela, Spain. It was founded in 1993 and currently consists of 16 teams. The league plays in a round-robin format, with each team playing each other team once. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the Tercera División RFEF – Group 6, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Primera Regional Preferente de la Comunidad Valenciana.
History
Liga Orihuela was founded in 1993 as a merger between two local amateur football clubs, Orihuela Juventud y Deportes and Atlético Orihuela. The first season of the league was played in 1993-94, with 12 teams participating. The league has grown steadily since then, and currently consists of 16 teams.
