History
The Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League was founded in 2004 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league was originally intended to provide a competitive environment for under-18s teams who were unable to play in the traditional Saturday morning leagues.
The league has grown steadily since its inception and now has over 60 teams competing in the two divisions. The league has also been successful in developing young players, with a number of former players going on to play professional football.
Format
The Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League is a round-robin competition, with each team playing each other team in their division once. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the previous division.
The league also has a cup competition, the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League Cup. The cup competition is open to all teams in the league and is played on a knock-out basis.
Venues
The Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League matches are played at a variety of venues across Leicestershire. The majority of matches are played at floodlight pitches, which allows the league to play matches during the winter months.
