Kingdom of Fife AFA
The Kingdom of Fife AFA is an amateur football league competition for clubs in the Fife peninsula of Scotland. The league was created in 2017 with the merger of the Kingdom Caledonian Amateur Football Association and Fife Amateur Football Association. The association is affiliated to the Scottish Amateur Football Association and currently has 33 clubs across three divisions.
History
The Kingdom of Fife AFA was formed in 2017 with the merger of the Kingdom Caledonian Amateur Football Association and Fife Amateur Football Association. The Kingdom Caledonian Amateur Football Association was founded in 1920, while the Fife Amateur Football Association was founded in 1923.
The merger was the result of a number of factors, including the declining number of clubs in both leagues and the desire to create a more competitive and sustainable league structure.
Structure
The Kingdom of Fife AFA currently has three divisions:
- Smith & Grant Premier League
- Glendale Plastics Championship
- Alba Mortgage Solutions Conference
The Premier League is the top division, followed by the Championship and the Conference. The league season runs from August to May, with each team playing each other once in the regular season. The top two teams in the Premier League and the top team in the Championship are promoted to the next higher division, while the bottom two teams in the Premier League and the bottom two teams in the Championship are relegated to the next lower division.
