About the KDFL
The Kildare & District Football League (KDFL) was founded in 1994 to promote, foster and develop Association Football in the County of Kildare and its surrounding areas.
The KDFL currently has over 1800 registered players, competing in Junior, Over 35 and Women's Divisions. The League's headquarters are located in Naas, County Kildare.
The KDFL is affiliated to the Amateur Football League (AFL), which is the governing body for amateur football in Ireland. The AFL provides a range of services to its affiliated leagues, including insurance, refereeing and coaching.
The KDFL has a number of ongoing initiatives to promote football in the County of Kildare. These include the KDFL Academy, which provides coaching and development opportunities for young players, and the KDFL Women's League, which is one of the largest women's football leagues in Ireland.
History of the KDFL
The KDFL was founded in 1994 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The League's first season consisted of 10 teams, and the inaugural champions were Naas Town.
The KDFL has grown steadily over the years, and now has over 1800 registered players. The League has also expanded to include a number of new divisions, including the Over 35 and Women's Divisions.
The KDFL has a proud history of producing talented players. Some of the League's former players have gone on to play professional football, including Stephen O'Donnell, who currently plays for Scottish Premiership club Motherwell.
