Introduction
The Intermediate A is an amateur football league in England affiliated to the Amateur Football Alliance (AFA). It is based in and around Greater London and caters for 11–a–side men's adult teams.
The league was founded in 1907 and currently has 40 member clubs, fielding around 190 teams in 21 divisions. The top three divisions are known as the Senior divisions, while the lower divisions are known as the Intermediate divisions.
The league is divided into four sections:
- Senior (restricted to 1st teams, 3 divisions)
- Intermediate (4 divisions)
- Junior North (4 divisions)
- Junior South (3 divisions)
Promotion and relegation
The top two teams in each Intermediate division are promoted to the Senior divisions, while the bottom two teams in each Senior division are relegated to the Intermediate divisions.
There is also a promotion and relegation playoff between the third-placed team in each Intermediate division and the fourth-placed team in each Senior division.

- The Veterans Challenge Cup
- The Sunday Challenge Cup
