Ilford and District Churches League
The Ilford and District Churches League (IDCL) is an amateur football league based in Ilford, East London. It was founded in 1922 and currently has 20 teams competing in two divisions, the Premiership and the Championship.
History
The IDCL was founded in 1922 by a group of churches in the Ilford area. The first season saw just six teams competing, but the league has grown steadily over the years and now has 20 teams.
The IDCL has been home to some of the best amateur footballers in the country over the years. In the 1970s, the league was won by a team from the Ilford Catholic Centre, which included future England internationals Ray Wilkins and Trevor Brooking.
Current Season
The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premiership is being led by City Gates FC, while the Championship is being led by ANC.
The IDCL also has a number of cup competitions, including the League Cup, the Plate and the Shield. The League Cup final will be played on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
