Introduction
The Hitchin Sunday Morning League is an amateur football league based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently has two divisions, with a total of 32 teams. The league plays its matches on Sunday mornings during the winter months.
The league is affiliated to the Football Association and its teams are eligible to compete in the FA Sunday Cup. The current champions are Squirrel Taverners FC.
History
The Hitchin Sunday Morning League was founded in 1922 by a group of local footballers. The league initially had just one division, but it expanded to two divisions in 1960. The league has been affiliated to the Football Association since 1970.
The league has produced a number of players who have gone on to play professional football, including Terry Venables, Mick Harford, and Paul Scholes.
