Introduction
The Hexham & District Sunday League is an amateur football league based in Hexham, Northumberland, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently consists of two divisions, the ESI Ltd Division One and The PHOENIX Hexham Division Two.
The league is affiliated to the Northumberland Football Association and plays its matches on Sunday afternoons. The season runs from September to April.
The current champions of the ESI Ltd Division One are Hexham Town, while the current champions of The PHOENIX Hexham Division Two are Stocksfield Town.
The league has a strong tradition of local rivalry, with some of the most heated matches being between the teams from Hexham and its surrounding villages.
The league is also a popular breeding ground for young talent, with many players who have gone on to play professional football having started their careers in the Hexham & District Sunday League.
