Herne Bay & Whitstable Sunday League
The Herne Bay & Whitstable Sunday League is an amateur football league based in Kent, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 teams competing in four divisions.
History
The league was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The inaugural season consisted of just four teams, but the league has since grown to become one of the largest and most successful Sunday leagues in Kent.
The league has been home to some notable players over the years, including former England internationals Kevin Beattie and Dave Beasant.
Structure
The league currently has four divisions: Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. Each division consists of 12 teams, and each team plays each other team twice in a season.
The top two teams in the Premier Division are promoted to the Kent League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division One. The top two teams in Division One are promoted to the Premier Division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division Two. The top two teams in Division Two are promoted to Division One, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division Three.
Cup competitions
The league also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Challenge Cup, the Fletcher Memorial Cup, and the Les Barleycorn Cup.
The Challenge Cup is the league's premier cup competition, and is open to all teams in the league. The Fletcher Memorial Cup is a cup competition for teams in Division One and Division Two, and the Les Barleycorn Cup is a cup competition for teams in Division Two and Division Three.
