Introduction
The Grimsby, Cleethorpes & District Sunday League is an amateur football league in the English town of Grimsby. It was founded in 1950 and currently consists of 4 divisions, with a total of 60 clubs. The league is affiliated to the Lincolnshire Football Association.
The league's headquarters are located at the Grimsby Town Football Club stadium, Blundell Park. The current league champions are Cromwell FC, who won the title in the 2022-23 season.
History
The Grimsby, Cleethorpes & District Sunday League was founded in 1950 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of just 8 clubs, but it has since grown to become one of the largest amateur football leagues in the region.
The league has been won by a number of different clubs over the years, with Cromwell FC being the most successful team, having won the title 12 times. Other notable winners include Humberston FC, People Bar FC, and The Cricketers FC.
Current Season
The 2023-24 season is currently underway. The top four teams from each division will qualify for the play-offs, with the winners of the play-offs being promoted to the next higher division.
The current league leaders are Cromwell FC, who have won all of their games so far. Other teams in contention for the title include Humberston FC, People Bar FC, and The Cricketers FC.
