Gosport, Fareham & Solent Football League
The Gosport, Fareham & Solent Football League (GFSFL) is an amateur Sunday football league based in Gosport, Hampshire, England. It was formed in 2013 by the amalgamation of the Gosport and Fareham League and the Solent Football League.
History
The Gosport and Fareham League was founded in 1904 as the Gosport District League. It was renamed the Gosport and Fareham League in 1921. The Solent Football League was founded in 1972.
The GFSFL currently has 31 teams from 26 clubs divided into three divisions. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by Division 1 and Division 2.
Season structure
The season runs from September to May. Each team plays each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated to the lower division.
Cup competitions
The GFSFL also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Frank and Pat Marsden Challenge Cup, the Gosport War Memorial Charities Cup and the John Norton Memorial Cup.
