Glasgow & District Sunday Football Championship (GDSFC)
The Glasgow & District Sunday Football Championship (GDSFC) is an amateur football league organization in Glasgow, Scotland. It was founded in 2008 and currently has 52 teams competing in 4 divisions.
History
The GDSFC was founded in 2008 by a group of local football enthusiasts who wanted to create a competitive and organized league for amateur teams in Glasgow. The league has grown steadily since its inception, and now has teams from all over the city.
The GDSFC is affiliated with the Scottish Amateur Football Association (SAFA), which allows its teams to compete in national cup competitions. The league also has a strong commitment to charity, and donates thousands of pounds every year to local good causes.
Divisions
The GDSFC has 4 divisions: Premiership, Championship, Division 1, and Division 2. The Premiership is the top division, and the teams in this division are the most competitive. The Championship is the second tier, and Divisions 1 and 2 are for less experienced teams.
The league season runs from August to May, with each team playing each other once. The top teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the lower division.
Cup competitions
In addition to the league, the GDSFC also organizes a number of cup competitions. The most prestigious cup competition is the GDSFC Cup, which is open to all teams in the league. The other cup competitions include the League Cup, the Challenge Cup, and the Charity Cup.
