Fortress League
The Fortress League is an amateur football league based in Serbia. It was founded in 1999 and currently consists of 12 teams. The league is played on a round-robin basis, with each team playing each other team once. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the Serbian League Belgrade, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Serbian League Vojvodina.
History
The Fortress League was founded in 1999 by a group of football enthusiasts in Belgrade. The league was originally intended to be a way for amateur footballers to continue playing the game after they had finished playing at a professional level. However, the league quickly grew in popularity and now attracts players of all ages and abilities.
The Fortress League has produced a number of talented players over the years, including Nemanja Vidic, who went on to play for Manchester United and Serbia. The league has also been a breeding ground for coaches, with a number of former Fortress League players going on to manage professional clubs.
Current Season
The current season of the Fortress League is the 23rd. The defending champions are Radnicki Beograd, who won their third title in the 2021-22 season. The current season is scheduled to start on September 10, 2023 and end on May 28, 2024.
