Fortress League
The Fortress League is an amateur football league based in Serbia. It was founded in 1992 and currently consists of 16 teams. The league is divided into two divisions, the First Division and the Second Division. The top two teams in the First Division are promoted to the Serbian League Vojvodina, while the bottom two teams in the First Division are relegated to the Second Division. The top two teams in the Second Division are promoted to the First Division, while the bottom two teams in the Second Division are relegated to the local leagues.
History
The Fortress League was founded in 1992, shortly after the breakup of Yugoslavia. The league was originally called the "Serbia and Montenegro League", but the name was changed to the "Fortress League" in 2006 after Montenegro gained independence.
The Fortress League has been won by a number of different teams over the years, including FK Vojvodina, FK Radnicki Niš, and FK Spartak Subotica. The current champions are FK Vojvodina, who won the league in the 2022-2023 season.
