Introduction
The amateur football league called 'Football' is the highest level of amateur football in the Netherlands. It is organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB).
The league consists of 34 teams, divided into a Saturday league and a Sunday league. Each team plays each other team twice, once at home and once away.
The top two teams in each league are promoted to the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of professional football in the Netherlands. The bottom two teams in each league are relegated to the Tweede Divisie, the third tier of amateur football in the Netherlands.
History
The amateur football league called 'Football' was founded in 2010 as the Topklasse. It was renamed to the Derde Divisie in 2016.
The league has been won by a total of 11 teams, with PEC Zwolle being the most successful team with 4 titles.
Current season
The current season of the amateur football league called 'Football' is the 2022-2023 season. The top two teams at the end of the season will be promoted to the Eerste Divisie, while the bottom two teams will be relegated to the Tweede Divisie.
