Dorset Youth Football League
The Dorset Youth Football League (DYFL) is an amateur football league for youth players in the English county of Dorset. It was founded in May 2001 and is sanctioned by the Dorset County Football Association.
The DYFL currently consists of 49 clubs and 222 teams spread over 10 age groups, from Under 9 to Under 16. The league has approximately 3,000 registered players.
History
The DYFL was founded in May 2001 as the Dorset Divisional Youth League. The name was changed to the Dorset Youth Football League in 2019.
The league was originally created to provide a competitive environment for youth players in Dorset. However, it has since evolved to become a more inclusive league, with teams for both boys and girls, and a focus on developing players of all abilities.
Competitions
The DYFL runs a variety of competitions for players of all ages and abilities. These include:
- Under 9 to Under 16 leagues
- Dorset Girls Football League
- Cup competitions
- Festivals
The DYFL also runs a referees' association and a coaches' association.
