Derbyshire Walking Football League
The Derbyshire Walking Football League is an amateur football league for people over the age of 50. It was founded in 2015 and is affiliated with the Derbyshire County FA. The league currently has three divisions: Evening 50s, Daytime 60s, and Daytime 65s.
History
The Derbyshire Walking Football League was founded in 2015 by Paul Jackson, who is the current league secretary. The league was created in response to the growing popularity of walking football in the UK. Walking football is a version of football that is played at a slower pace and without running. This makes it a more accessible sport for people of all ages and fitness levels.
The Derbyshire Walking Football League has grown rapidly since its inception. In its first season, the league had just four teams. However, the league now has over 20 teams and is still growing. The league has also expanded to include a new division for players over the age of 65.
Rules
The rules of walking football are similar to the rules of regular football, with a few key differences. The most important difference is that players are not allowed to run. They must walk at all times, except when they are in possession of the ball.
Other rules of walking football include:
- The ball must be kept below shoulder height.
- There is no offside rule.
- The game is played on a smaller pitch than a regular football pitch.
- Each team has seven players on the pitch at a time.
Walking football is a great way to stay active and have fun. It is a low-impact sport that is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. If you are interested in getting involved in walking football, you can find more information on the Derbyshire Walking Football League website.
