Derby Junior Football League (Charter Standard League)
The Derby Junior Football League (JFL) is an amateur football league based in Derby, England. It was founded in 1998 and currently has over 60 clubs and 340 teams, with over 4,000 youngsters playing in the league.
The JFL is a Charter Standard League, which means that it has met certain standards set by The Football Association (FA). These standards relate to the quality of coaching, facilities, and administration.
Age groups
The JFL caters for players aged 7-16 years old. The age groups are:
- Under 7s
- Under 8s
- Under 9s
- Under 10s
- Under 11s
- Under 12s
- Under 13s
- Under 14s
- Under 15s
- Under 16s
Season
The JFL season runs from September to May. The season is divided into two halves, with a winter break in December.
Each team plays each other team in their age group once, home and away. The top teams in each age group qualify for the playoffs, with the winners being crowned champions.
