Introduction
The Derby City Football League (DCPL) is an amateur football league based in Derby, England. It was founded in 1900 and currently has over 200 teams competing in a variety of divisions.
The DCPL is affiliated to the Derbyshire County Football Association (DCFA) and is a member of the National League System (NLS). The league's top division, the Premier Division, is at Step 7 of the NLS.
The DCPL season runs from August to May and each team plays 22 games. The top two teams in each division are promoted and the bottom two teams are relegated.
History
The Derby City Football League was founded in 1900 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league's first season consisted of just six teams and the first champions were Derby Midland Railway.
The DCPL has grown steadily over the years and now has over 200 teams competing in a variety of divisions. The league's top division, the Premier Division, is at Step 7 of the National League System.
The DCPL has produced a number of professional footballers over the years, including former England internationals Peter Shilton and Des Walker.
Current season
The current season of the Derby City Football League is the 2022-23 season. The Premier Division is currently being led by Mickleover Sports, who are followed by Spondon Athletic and Allestree United.
The bottom two teams in the Premier Division are currently Derby Athletic and Borrowash Victoria. These teams are at risk of relegation to Division One.
