Dagenham & District Sunday Football League
The Dagenham & District Sunday Football League is an amateur football league in East London, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 teams competing in its various divisions.
History
The Dagenham & District Sunday Football League was founded in 1921 by a group of local businessmen. The first season saw just six teams competing, but the league quickly grew in popularity and now has over 100 teams.
The league has been home to some of the best amateur footballers in the country over the years, including former England internationals John Barnes and Paul Gascoigne.
Divisions
The Dagenham & District Sunday Football League has a total of 10 divisions, ranging from the Premier Division to Division 10. The Premier Division is the top division in the league and is contested by the best teams in the area.
The other divisions are split into two groups, North and South. The top teams from each group are promoted to the Premier Division at the end of the season, while the bottom teams are relegated to the next division down.
Cup competitions
The Dagenham & District Sunday Football League also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Challenge Cup, the League Cup, and the Floodlit Cup. The Challenge Cup is the most prestigious cup competition in the league and is contested by all teams in the Premier Division and Division 1.
The League Cup is open to all teams in the league, while the Floodlit Cup is only open to teams in the Premier Division and Division 1.
