Dagenham and District Sunday Football League
The Dagenham and District Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Dagenham, Essex. It was founded in 1920 and currently has 20 teams competing in its Premier Division.
The league is affiliated to the Essex County Football Association and is eligible to enter the FA Sunday Cup.
History
The Dagenham and District Sunday Football League was founded in 1920 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league originally had just four teams, but it has since grown to become one of the largest amateur football leagues in Essex.
The league has been home to some notable players over the years, including former England internationals Paul Ince and Tony Cottee.
Format
The Dagenham and District Sunday Football League is a single division league. Each team plays each other twice, once at home and once away. The top team at the end of the season is crowned champions.
The league also has a cup competition, the Glad Nichols Memorial Cup. The cup is open to all teams in the league and is contested over a knockout format.
