Introduction

The Craven League is an amateur football league based in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1902 and currently has 36 teams competing in four divisions.

The league is affiliated to the English Football Association and its teams compete in the FA Vase and the FA Sunday Cup.

History

The Craven League was founded in 1902 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season saw just six teams competing, but the league has grown steadily over the years and now has 36 teams.

The league has been won by a number of different clubs over the years, but Gargrave Football Club are the most successful team, having won the title 11 times.

The Craven League has also produced a number of professional footballers, including Paul Gascoigne, who played for Wath Wanderers in the league before moving to Newcastle United.

The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being led by Gargrave Football Club, who are unbeaten in their opening six games.

The other three divisions are also being closely contested, with several teams in contention for promotion.
