Introduction
The County Motor Works Mid Essex League is an amateur football league based in Essex, England. It was founded in 1898 and currently has 54 teams spread over five divisions. The top division, the Premier Division, sits at level 14 of the English football league system and is a feeder to the Essex Olympian Football League.
The league is sponsored by County Motor Works, a Vauxhall dealership based in Chelmsford.
The league headquarters are located at the Mid Essex Sports and Social Club in Springfield, Essex.
Season Structure
The league season runs from August to May. Each team plays each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top teams in each division are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the next lower division.
The league also has a cup competition, the Mid Essex League Cup. The cup is open to all teams in the league and is played on a knockout basis.
