Introduction
The Cork Schoolboy League (CSL) is an amateur football league for boys and girls under the age of 18 in Cork, Ireland. It was founded in 1948 and is currently affiliated to the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
The CSL has over 100 affiliated clubs and organizes a variety of competitions, including the Premier Division, First Division, and Second Division. It also organizes cup competitions, such as the CSL Cup and the CSL Shield.
The CSL is a major force in schoolboy football in Ireland and has produced many talented players who have gone on to play professional football. Some of the most famous players to have come through the CSL include Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, and Damien Duff.
History
The Cork Schoolboy League was founded in 1948 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first chairman of the league was Mr. Michael O'Donovan.
The league initially had just a few teams, but it grew rapidly in the early years. By the 1960s, the CSL had over 50 affiliated clubs.
The CSL has continued to grow and develop over the years. In recent years, the league has introduced a number of new competitions, such as the CSL Women's League and the CSL Disability League.
