City of Salford Soccer League
The City of Salford Soccer League is an amateur football league in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. It was founded in 1963 and currently has 20 teams competing in two divisions.
History
The league was founded in 1963 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season saw 12 teams compete in a single division. The league expanded to two divisions in 1970 and has remained at that size ever since.
The league has been won by a variety of teams over the years, including Salford City Juniors, Swinton Athletic, and Ordsall United. The current champions are Ordsall United, who won the title in the 2022-23 season.
Divisions
The league is divided into two divisions: Division One and Division Two. Division One is the top division and is currently contested by 10 teams. Division Two is the second division and is currently contested by 10 teams.
Season Structure
The league season runs from September to May. Each team plays each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated to the next division.
