History
The Chippenham And District Sunday League was founded in 1966 by a group of dedicated people who wanted to provide the people of North Wiltshire and the surrounding area with the chance to play competitive football on a Sunday morning.
The league initially consisted of just four divisions, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has 10 divisions. The league has also been sponsored by a number of businesses over the years, including Shoestrings Chargrill, who are the current sponsors.
The league has a strong reputation for providing competitive football and has produced a number of players who have gone on to play professional football. One of the most notable players to have come through the league is Michael Symes, who played for Swindon Town and Bristol City.
Current Season
The current season of the Chippenham And District Sunday League is the 2022/23 season. The Premier Division is currently being led by AFC Melksham, who are followed by FC Devizes United and Gringos FC.
The league's cup competitions are also currently being played, with the Chippenham Senior Cup being the most prestigious. The current holders of the cup are AFC Melksham, who beat FC Devizes United in the final last season.
