Chester Le Street, Washington And Derwentside Sfa
The Chester Le Street, Washington And Derwentside Schools FA (CLSWDSFA) is an amateur football league for schools in the Chester-le-Street, Washington and Derwentside areas of County Durham, England.
The league was formed in 1974 and currently has over 100 affiliated schools. It runs leagues for boys and girls from Under-7s to Under-18s.
The CLSWDSFA is a member of the Durham County Schools FA and the English Schools' Football Association. It is also affiliated to the Football Association.
History
The CLSWDSFA was formed in 1974 by a group of schools in the Chester-le-Street, Washington and Derwentside areas. The league was originally called the Chester-le-Street Schools FA, but it was renamed in 1995 to reflect the wider area that it covers.
The CLSWDSFA has grown significantly since its formation. In its first season, the league had only 12 teams. However, by the 1980s, the league had over 50 teams. Today, the league has over 100 affiliated schools.
The CLSWDSFA has a proud history of producing talented footballers. In 2018-19, the CLSWDSFA Under-13 team won the ESFA National District Champions.
League Structure
The CLSWDSFA runs leagues for boys and girls from Under-7s to Under-18s. The leagues are divided into age groups and ability levels.
The Under-7s to Under-11s leagues are played in a round-robin format. The top teams in each league qualify for the playoffs.
The Under-12s to Under-18s leagues are played in a league and cup format. The top teams in each league qualify for the playoffs. The cup competitions are knockout competitions.
