Introduction
The Carlisle Glass Longhorn Youth League is an amateur football league for boys and girls aged 7 to 16 in the Carlisle area of Cumbria. The league was founded in 1974 and currently has over 100 teams participating.
The league is divided into age groups, with each age group having a number of divisions. The teams play each other in a round-robin format, with the top teams at the end of the season being promoted and the bottom teams being relegated.
The league also has cup competitions for each age group. The cup competitions are single-elimination tournaments, with the winners of each cup being crowned champions.
Season 2022/23
The 2022/23 season is currently underway. The league has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with some games being postponed or cancelled. However, the league is still hoping to complete the season as scheduled.
The current league leaders are Carlisle City Juniors U16, who have won all of their games so far. The other teams in contention for the title include Carlisle Centurions U16, Gillford Park Juniors U16 Gillies, and Northbank Juniors U16 Northbank.
