Campeonato Nacional Categoria D
The Campeonato Nacional Categoria D is an amateur football league in Brazil. It is the fourth tier of Brazilian football, below the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, and Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.
The league was founded in 2020 and is organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). It is contested by 64 teams, divided into eight groups of eight teams each. The teams play each other once, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage.
History
The Campeonato Nacional Categoria D was founded in 2020 as part of a restructuring of Brazilian football. It replaced the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, which was the fourth tier of Brazilian football at the time.
The inaugural season of the Campeonato Nacional Categoria D was won by São José-RS. The current champions are Remo.
Format
The Campeonato Nacional Categoria D is contested by 64 teams, divided into eight groups of eight teams each. The teams play each other once, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage.
The knockout stage consists of two rounds: the quarterfinals and the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals advance to the final.
