Blackburn Combination Football League

The Blackburn Combination Football League is a football league based in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. It was founded in 1902 and currently consists of two divisions, the Red Rose Dry Lining Premier Division and the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division.

The league is affiliated to the Lancashire Football Association and its headquarters are at Pleasington Playing Fields in Blackburn. The current champions are Blackburn United, who won the Red Rose Dry Lining Premier Division in the 2022-23 season.

History

The Blackburn Combination Football League was founded in 1902 by a group of local football clubs. The original name of the league was the Blackburn and District Football Combination. The league has undergone several changes in its history, including the introduction of a second division in 1972.

The league has seen several clubs win the championship over the years, including Darwen, Accrington Stanley, Blackburn Rovers, and Blackburn Olympic. In recent years, the league has been dominated by Blackburn United, who have won the championship seven times since 2000.

The Blackburn Combination Football League currently consists of two divisions, the Red Rose Dry Lining Premier Division and the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division. The Red Rose Dry Lining Premier Division has 11 teams, while the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division has 12 teams.

The season runs from August to May, with each team playing each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in the Red Rose Dry Lining Premier Division are promoted to the North West Counties League, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division.
