The Blackburn & District Football Combination is an amateur football league in Lancashire, England. It was founded in 1902 and is currently in its 121st season. The league consists of 20 teams, divided into two divisions: the Premier Division and the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division.
History
The Blackburn & District Football Combination was founded in 1902 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league's first season consisted of just six teams, but it has since grown to become one of the largest amateur football leagues in the country.
The league has a long and proud history, and has produced some of the best amateur footballers in England. In recent years, Blackburn Eagles FC and Darwen FC have both won the Premier Division title.
Current Season
The 2022-23 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is being led by Blackburn Eagles FC, while the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division is being led by Darwen Spitfire FC.
Cup Competitions
The Blackburn & District Football Combination also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Birtwistle Cup and the Eddleston Cup. The Birtwistle Cup is a knockout competition for teams in the Premier Division, while the Eddleston Cup is a knockout competition for teams in the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division.
