The Blackburn & District Football Combination is an amateur football league in Lancashire, England. It was founded in 1902 and is currently in its 121st season. The league consists of 20 teams, divided into two divisions: the Premier Division and the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division.
History
The Blackburn & District Football Combination was founded in 1902 by a group of local businessmen and football enthusiasts. The league started with just 10 teams, but it quickly grew in popularity and now has over 20 teams. The league has been won by a number of well-known teams over the years, including Darwen FC, Blackburn Rovers Reserves, and Accrington Stanley Reserves.
Current Season
The current season of the Blackburn & District Football Combination is the 2023-2024 season. The Premier Division is currently being led by Blackburn Eagles FC, while the Peter Benson Plywood Second Division is being led by Euro Garages FC. The season will culminate in the playoffs in May 2024, with the winners of each division being promoted to the next level.
Cup Competitions
In addition to the regular league season, the Blackburn & District Football Combination also runs a number of cup competitions. These include the Birtwistle Cup, the Eddleston Cup, and the Langtec Combination Cup. The cup competitions are a great opportunity for teams to win silverware and qualify for national competitions.
