The league is named after Black Sheep Brewery, a brewery in Masham, North Yorkshire. The brewery is a sponsor of the league and provides the trophies for the winners and runners-up.
The current champions are The Farmers, who won the league in the 2021-22 season. The runners-up were The Village Idiots.
History
The Black Sheep Brewery Sunday League Div 3 was founded in 2004. The inaugural season consisted of 8 teams. The league has expanded steadily over the years and now consists of 10 teams.
The league has been won by a number of different teams over the years. The most successful team is The Farmers, who have won the league 5 times. Other successful teams include The Village Idiots, The Butchers, and The Builders.
Format
The Black Sheep Brewery Sunday League Div 3 plays a double round-robin format. Each team plays each other team twice, once at home and once away. The top team at the end of the season is the champion. The bottom team is relegated to the Black Sheep Brewery Sunday League Div 4.
The league also has a cup competition, the Black Sheep Brewery Sunday League Cup. The cup competition is open to all teams in the league. The winners of the cup competition qualify for the North Yorkshire Football League Cup.
