Berkshire Youth Development League
The Berkshire Youth Development League (BYDL) is an amateur football league for youth players in Berkshire, England. It was founded in 1999 and currently has over 100 clubs affiliated to it. The league runs competitions for players aged 7 to 18, both boys and girls.
Divisions
The BYDL is divided into a number of divisions, based on the age of the players. The divisions for the 2023-2024 season are:
- U7 Premier
- U7 Division 1
- U7 Division 2
- U8 Premier
- U8 Division 1
- U8 Division 2
- ...
- U18 Premier
- U18 Division 1
- U18 Division 2
The top division for each age group is the Premier Division. The teams in the Premier Division play each other home and away, and the winner of each division is crowned champions.
Cup competitions
In addition to the league competitions, the BYDL also runs a number of cup competitions. The cup competitions are open to all teams in the league, regardless of their division. The most prestigious cup competition is the BYDL Cup.
The BYDL Cup is a knockout competition, with teams drawn against each other at random. The winners of the BYDL Cup are automatically promoted to the Premier Division for the following season.
