Belfast & District Football League
The Belfast & District Football League (BDFL) is an amateur football league in Northern Ireland. It is the second tier of the BDFL, below the Premier Division. The current season is the 2022-23 season.
History
The BDFL was founded in 1921. The first season was won by Cliftonville Reserves. The league has been won by a variety of clubs over the years, including Linfield Reserves, Glentoran Reserves, and Crusaders Reserves.
Structure
The BDFL consists of two divisions, the Premier Division and Division 1. The Premier Division has 12 teams, while Division 1 has 10 teams. The teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in the Premier Division are promoted to the NIFL Championship, while the bottom two teams are relegated to Division 1. The top two teams in Division 1 are promoted to the Premier Division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the BDFL Intermediate League.
Current Season
The current season is the 2022-23 season. The Premier Division is currently led by Cliftonville Reserves, while Division 1 is currently led by Dundela.
