Bedfordshire Teachers Football League
The Bedfordshire Teachers Football League is an amateur football league for teachers in Bedfordshire, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently has two divisions, the South Division and the North Division.
History
The Bedfordshire Teachers Football League was founded in 1922 by a group of teachers who wanted to play football together. The league started with just four teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 30 teams.
The league has been played at various levels over the years. In the early days, it was a purely amateur league, but in the 1970s, it became affiliated to the Football Association and began to play in the FA Sunday Cup.
The league has also been affected by changes in education policy. In the 1980s, many schools closed their playing fields, which made it difficult for teachers to find places to play football. However, the league has survived these challenges and continues to provide a valuable opportunity for teachers to play football together.
Current Season
The current season of the Bedfordshire Teachers Football League began in September 2022 and is scheduled to end in May 2023. The South Division is currently being led by Bedford Academy, while the North Division is being led by Robert Bloomfield Academy.
The league cup competition is also being played this season. The cup is currently being held by Bedford Academy.
