Bedford & District Sunday Football League
The Bedford & District Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Bedford, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently has over 100 clubs competing in 13 divisions.
History
The Bedford & District Sunday Football League was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season saw just 10 teams compete, but the league has since grown to become one of the largest and most successful Sunday leagues in the country.
The league has a long and proud history, and has produced some of the best amateur footballers in the country. Former players include former England internationals Paul Scholes and David Beckham.
Structure
The Bedford & District Sunday Football League is divided into 13 divisions, ranging from the Premier Division to Division 13. The top four teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom four teams are relegated to the next division.
The league also has a cup competition, the Bedford & District Sunday Cup. The cup is open to all teams in the league, and is played in a knockout format.
Recent seasons
The 2021-22 season was the most recent season of the Bedford & District Sunday Football League. The Premier Division was won by AFC Bedford United, who finished the season unbeaten.
The cup competition was won by AFC Flitwick, who defeated AFC Bedford United in the final.
