AYSO EXTRAs
AYSO EXTRAs is a progressive player program designed to provide a more challenging level of soccer for AYSO players who have the interest, skills, and abilities. It enhances that player's experience and individual growth through the game of soccer while retaining the spirit and organization of AYSO.
EXTRAs is not designed to overshadow or harm the standard primary program - rather the goal is to strengthen AYSO by recruiting and retaining players and volunteers through providing more competitive play the AYSO way - all EXTRAs programs embrace the Six Philosophies of AYSO.
How does it work?
EXTRAs teams are formed based on tryouts. Players are evaluated on their skills, ability, and desire to play at a more competitive level. Teams are then placed in a league with other teams of similar ability.
EXTRAs teams play a season of games against other teams in their league. The number of games each team plays will vary depending on the age group and location.
Who is it for?
EXTRAs is a great fit for players who want a more competitive environment than the AYSO Core program but are not seeking to move to Club soccer. It is also a good option for players who have outgrown the Core program but are not yet ready for Club soccer.
Where can I find an AYSO EXTRAs program?
EXTRAs can only be offered in areas with a regular AYSO program and is coordinated with the support of local leadership. No paid coaches or referees are allowed. All AYSO standards for training and certification for coaches and referees are in place.
