Introduction
The Aston League is an amateur football league in the West Midlands, England. It was founded in 1891 and currently consists of 20 teams. The league is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and Division One.
History
The Aston League was founded in 1891 by a group of local footballers. The original teams were Aston Villa Reserves, Aston Unity, Aston Excelsior, Aston Villa Old Boys, and Aston Villa Strollers. The league has expanded over the years and now consists of 20 teams.
The Aston League has produced a number of professional footballers, including Jimmy Brain, who played for Aston Villa and England, and Trevor Francis, who played for Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, and England.
