Introduction
The Amateur Football League (AFL) is a football league in Ireland that caters solely for over 35 football. It is the largest league in Ireland providing football at this level.
The AFL was founded in Dublin on the 23rd May 1954. The League was founded to provide football for people who are amateurs, playing in a competitive spirit.
The AFL currently has over 100 clubs and over 2,000 players. The League is divided into 10 divisions, with each division having its own set of rules and regulations.
The AFL season runs from September to April. The season consists of a regular season, followed by a knockout cup competition.
The AFL is affiliated to the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
