Altrincham Sunday League
The Altrincham Sunday League is an amateur football league in the Altrincham area of Greater Manchester, England. It was founded in 1904 and currently has 20 teams competing in two divisions.
The league is affiliated to the Cheshire FA and its matches are played on Sundays. The season runs from September to May.
History
The Altrincham Sunday League was founded in 1904. The original name of the league was the Altrincham & District Sunday Football League.
The league has been through a number of changes over the years. In 1980, the league was renamed the Altrincham Sunday League. In 2004, the league celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Current Structure
The Altrincham Sunday League currently has 20 teams competing in two divisions. The Premier Division is the top division and the First Division is the second division.
The teams in the Premier Division play each other once, home and away. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the Cheshire Football League. The bottom two teams are relegated to the First Division.
The teams in the First Division play each other once, home and away. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the Premier Division. The bottom two teams are relegated to a lower league.
