2015/2016 Pre-Season Amateur Football League
The 2015/2016 pre-season amateur football league was a season of mixed fortunes for the top teams.
Leicester City
Leicester City were the surprise package of the season, winning the Premier League title for the first time in their history. They had a strong pre-season, winning all of their friendlies.
In their first pre-season friendly, they beat League One side Sheffield United 3-0. They then went on to beat Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Derby County, as well as League Two side Wycombe Wanderers.
Their only pre-season defeat came against German side Borussia Mönchengladbach, but they bounced back to beat Barcelona 4-2 in their final friendly.
The success of Leicester City's pre-season was a major factor in their title-winning campaign. They were able to gel as a team and get their tactics right before the start of the season.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur were another team who had a good pre-season, winning six of their seven friendlies.
They started their pre-season with a 2-1 win over League Two side Gillingham. They then went on to beat Championship sides Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday, as well as League One sides MK Dons and Bristol City.
Their only pre-season defeat came against Italian side Inter Milan, but they bounced back to beat Barcelona 2-1 in their final friendly.
Tottenham Hotspur's pre-season form was a good indication of their season, as they finished third in the Premier League.
Chelsea
Chelsea had a disappointing pre-season, winning only two of their seven friendlies.
They started their pre-season with a 1-1 draw against League One side Walsall. They then went on to beat League Two side Crawley Town, but lost to Championship sides Brentford and Nottingham Forest.
Their only other pre-season wins came against non-league sides Boreham Wood and Wycombe Wanderers.
Chelsea's poor pre-season form was a major factor in their disappointing season, as they finished 10th in the Premier League.
