Introduction
The amateur football league called "?? 1" is a regional league in the Netherlands. It is the sixth level of the Dutch football league system, below the Tweede Divisie, Derde Divisie, Hoofdklasse, Topklasse, and Eerste Divisie.
History
The league was founded in 1970 as the Hoofdklasse, the highest level of amateur football in the Netherlands. In 2010, the Topklasse was introduced as an intermediate level between the Hoofdklasse and the Eerste Divisie. The Hoofdklasse was then renamed to Derde Divisie.
Current format
The league consists of 19 teams, divided into two groups of 9. The teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams from each group qualify for the promotion play-offs, while the bottom two teams from each group are relegated to the Vierde Divisie.
