The race to the 2024-2025 Premier League title is finally beginning to take shape, with leading teams fighting to dominate the top three spots. Manchester City started their campaign as the defending champion for the fourth consecutive time after edging out the race two points above Arsenal. Most fans also expected this season’s title race to be a battle between the Gunners and Manchester City, but Liverpool is now taking the lead.

Following the third international break this season, Arne Slot’s side opened a nine-point lead to sit comfortably at the top of the table as they attempt to secure their first EPL title since 2020. New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is also hoping to bring the trophy to Stamford Bridge, while Tottenham’s coach Ange Postecoglu is currently under intense pressure to deliver positive results this season. However, the question of whether Manchester United can win the league title this season seems far-fetched despite the arrival of Ruben Amorin at Old Trafford.

Here is a closer look at how EPL favorites compare while considering the picks from experts on SportyTrader.

Liverpool

While Jurgen Klopp strolled from Anfield for the last time, awkwardly resulted in the home fans chanting Arne Slot’s to signal the start of a new era. Arne Slot might have claimed the league title in the Netherlands, but the EPL is a different game as he attempts to fill Klopp’s spot. However, Slot has acclimated to the premier league quickly, with his side recording 34 points in their first 13 games. As such, experts predict that the Reds will continue to finish the first half of the season among the top two.

Manchester City

While Manchester City has extended Pep Guardiola’s contract for another two years, problems are still increasing at Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have recorded a string of defeats, which have made them fall behind Liverpool as the favorites and they still have a long way to bounce back.

Erling Haaland is their main player and he looks set to claim the Golden Boot for the third consecutive time this season. However, Haaland has struggled to yield more goals in recent weeks. Nonetheless, Rodri is

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s side have slipped down the favorites list following a disappointing start of the season where they won a little over a half of their first 13 matches. The Gunners have added depth during the summer after adding Italian star Ricardo Calafiori to their defense and taking the skilled Raheem Sterling on loan. However, they are still lacking an experienced goalscorer, which recently saw them a winless four-game streak.

Chelsea

Chelsea has been in shambles multiple times due to its controversial owner Todd Boehly. But despite Boehly’s lack of experience, coach Enzo Maresca is like a fresh breath to the west London team. The new coach wasn’t afraid to make major changes to the team this summer, even culling stars like Conor Gallagher, Ben Chilwell, and Sterling from his lineup this summer. However, Maresca still processes a lot of quality, especially in the attacking trio of Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, and Cole Palmer.
